JOB SUMMARY:This position is responsible for all aspects of server platform management including installation, configuration, design, monitoring, and support services. The administrator will manage Microsoft Windows and Linux based servers in physical and virtual environments and related applications.
JOB FUNCTIONS:Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers including hardware, peripherals, services, and settings.
Install, configure, maintain, patch, and tune Unix and Linux servers including associated hardware and software in physical and virtual environments;
Configure, maintain, and update Microsoft Exchange and Office365 email and archival systems including mailbox and distribution groups, database availability groups, Internet email gateway integration, and all other aspects of system management;
Assist with design, installation, and management of databases including user access, permissions, backup and DR design;
Experience with installing and managing F5 Local and Global Traffic Manager Load Balancers or practical exposure to Load Balancer technologies;
Oversee the day-to-day operations including hardware/software support, training, and performance management;
Perform daily system monitoring to verify the contents of system and application logs, completion of scheduled tasks, reliability and availability of all hardware and server resources;
Apply Operating System patches and upgrades on a regular basis;
Participate in implementation of server patches on Windows and Unix/Linux servers.
Manage VMware and Oracle Virtual Machine (OVM) infrastructure including virtual desktop infrastructure;
Work with equipment vendors, software vendors, suppliers, and implementers to support the Windows and Linux environment;
Manage Active Directory environment including user accounts, groups, organizational units, computers, group policy settings, and propagating security and group policies to desktops and servers;
Research and recommend automated approaches for system administration tasks;
Maintain and manage system logging and event management including periodic performance reporting;
Secure servers by developing access, monitoring, and control utilizing tools for auditing, alerting, and event management;
Participate in managing server replication to DR site for highly available systems and recoverability purposes;
Assist as needed with backup configurations for physical and virtual and applications including Exchange and SQL Server;
Participate in audits, as needed, producing necessary documentation, reports, and explanations as well as assisting with the definition and implementation of corrective measures to rectify possible findings;
Work with Technical Services team to implement new and updated technologies;
Manage support contracts for server related products including Open Agreements and Enterprise Agreements; Open, manage, and resolve support issues including assistance from Microsoft and another vendor support; Develop policies and procedures as they relate to system maintenance, security, and design;
Manage Microsoft Desktop and Server Operating Systems including Active Directory integration, DNS configuration, and DHCP execution;
Provide interpretation and responses to vulnerability assessments from written benchmarks or scanning tools;
Assist with developing corrective action plans to remediate security vulnerabilities and describe the assessment and mitigation of system risks;
Troubleshoot problems and provide resolution while coordinating and communicating with impacted users; Assist in the definition and development of related documentation and standards;
Maintain support help desk tickets;
Prepare documentation for system enhancements, new application setup/configurations/implementations; Coordinate schedule for system maintenance, availability and communications;
Coordinate and support end users and project managers with the desktop environment, with emphasis on customer communications and networking availability;
Cross-train with other Technical Services staff for knowledge sharing and transfer; Participate in weekly on-call rotation with other team members;
Attend technical conferences and seminars to keep abreast of new software technology product developments; Assist with the training of and provide direction for employees;
Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:Generally, works a 40-hour week in an office environment; provides off-hours support and incident response when necessary; some travel between company locations, and for training and job skill enhancement as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field; and
Five (5) years’ experience related to administration of Linux and Microsoft Windows systems which encompasses purchasing, installing, upgrading, and supporting; and
Three (3) years’ experience administrating Microsoft Exchange or Office365 email systems which encompasses purchasing, installing, upgrading, and supporting Microsoft Exchange version 2010 or later;
Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field; and
Nine (9) years’ experience related to administration of Linux and Microsoft Windows systems which encompasses purchasing, installing, upgrading, and supporting; and
Five (5) years’ experience administrating Microsoft Exchange or Office365 email systems which encompasses purchasing, installing, upgrading, and supporting Microsoft Exchange version 2010 or later;
Valid driver’s license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Experience managing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server;
Proficiency with Anti-Spam, Anti-Virus, and Anti-Malware solutions for Windows and Exchange systems;
Experience implementing and supporting DNS, DHCP, NTFS, Microsoft Group Policy, and standard desktop productivity applications;
Working knowledge of Active Directory including Domain and Organizational Unit design concepts; Experience with Desktop Operating Systems in a networked environment;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to prioritize and multi-task;

Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification; Experience with EMC Source One email archival system;
Experience managing Barracuda or other Internet mail gateway for anti-spam and anti-virus protection; Skilled in administration scripting including PowerShell and batch programming;
Experience with disaster recovery design and testing;
Experience with installing and managing VMware and Oracle Virtual Machine virtual environments including VMware Horizon virtual desktop infrastructure;
Experience with installing and maintaining Cisco UCS server systems;
Practical exposure to storage and data management products including Intel based servers and SAN\NAS storage technologies;
Experience managing support contracts and licensing of Microsoft products; Proficiency with Microsoft best practices;
Understanding of networking and security technologies as it applies to Microsoft technologies.
