iSeries Systems Engineer
The iSeries Systems Engineer is responsible for analysis, design, implementation, quality and maintenance of iSeries systems, processes, associated software and utilities. Possible after hours work due to a data center move.
Support iSeries platform including IBM HW, SW, 3rd party applications and utilities.
Design, install and maintain iSeries computer equipment and maintain data center support and control equipment.
Collaborate with analysts or software developers to select appropriate design solutions or ensure the compatibility of system components.
Develop system engineering, software engineering, system integration, or distributed system architectures.
Direct the installation of operating systems, network or application software, or computer or network hardware.
Establish functional or system standards to ensure operational requirements, quality requirements, and design constraints are addressed.
Evaluate current or emerging technologies to consider factors such as cost, portability, compatibility, or usability.
Evaluate existing systems to determine effectiveness and suggest changes to meet organizational requirements.
Identify system data, hardware, or software components required to meet user needs.
Investigate system component suitability for specified purposes and make recommendations regarding component use.
Provide technical guidance or support for the development or troubleshooting of systems.
Adhere to development standards while delivering solutions on time.
Maintain high quality of the code that is being delivered by following good standards and practices
Analyze and resolve technical problems and application incidents.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
Update job knowledge by staying current with latest development tools and techniques.
Programming or DB2 experience
Assist in task planning and estimation.
HMC and ability to build partitions.
Mentor less experienced technical staff.
Complete models and simulations, using manual or automated tools, to analyze or predict system performance under different operating conditions.
Provide recommendations to improve existing applications and processes.
Mentor junior team members and aid in their development.
Assist Lead developer in establishing standards and best practices.
Responsible for task planning and estimation.
Minimum of 5 years of experience required
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Business Administration
Experience in building, maintaining software applications; source control; version control; testing; production turnover; specification development and systems analysis
Hands on experience with C#/VB.Net, Visual Studio .Net, SQL Server, LINQ.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
